@TasteyFlavYep, and I'm in lockdown at home now so I'll need to make a demo tomorrow. I hope it is intuitive enough that users can figure it out but watch this space, I'll add something soon.
@LysanderWritesFact is that Moon is overseeing putting the last two conservative presidents in prison Do you think the conservatives are going to say "bygones" when they get their chance to do the same to Moon?
Japanese internet baffled that former president park effectively getting a life sentence in spite of being so anti-Japanese 韓国前大統領・朴槿恵被告に懲役24年の実刑判決 blog.livedoor.jp/dqnplus/archiv…
Presidential retirement in South Korea
Park -- 24 years in prison
Lee -- arrested
Roh MH -- suicide
Kim DJ -- cash-for-summit scandal
Roh TW -- 22.5 years (pardoned)
Chun -- death sentence (pardoned)
Park -- assassinated

Not questioning the “justice” of each president being jailed (or committing suicide), just pointing out that fear of imprisonment seems to be a motivator when democratic leaders become autocratic. History says Moon will be next.
When you look at the fates of SK’s post dictatorship leaders, it is easy to question whether it really has yet entered a phase of stable democracy... RT @japantimes: Former South Korean President Park found guilty of corruption flip.it/M6EAS8
@sleepytako@nippon_enWell, that I admit is a minefield. Perhaps stated more carefully, the percentage of the Japanese population that actually subscribes in normal daily life to the Shinto ideas that women are spiritually dirty is so small (even the JSA disowned that gyoji) as to be virtually zero
@nippon_enTelling women to get out of the ring was not pure sexism or representative of Japan. Searing criticism shows that quite the opposite is true. The fact however that the announcer said anything however has drawn derision and forced an apology from the Japan Sumo Association
@nippon_enIn some fairness, the ban on women in ring isn’t pure sexism, it is a religious element of Sumo. Shinto is similar to folk religions in Asia and Polynesia. In NZ “Tapu and Noa” forces a similar concept. Also key to understand NO ONE takes shinto seriously as an actual religion
@TasteyFlav@NHKWORLD_NewsI agree that the protests against Ospreys are mostly opportunistic jibes by anti-american far left, but fact is that the planes do have a terrible safety record and reality is Japan has no say in America’s deployment of them in Japan, which aggravates things

Polls of Japanese 1st graders on what they want to be when they grow up: 1 out 5 boys want to be an athlete; close to 1/3 of girls want to be bakers. YouTuber enters boy's top 20 for 1st time. Doctor ranks No. 5 for girls. japantoday.com/category/natio…
It's inexplicable to me, but becoming a baker is such an obsession among many Japanese women and girls. I remember that early on in my career, during a stint at JETRO, there was a female colleague who quit her job to learn baking twitter.com/motokorich/sta…

Thing about the VW scandal for me is how it has shaken the blind belief the world had in German engineering. “Clean diesels” made no sense, but people believed it because of German engineering... "Photos show the epic scale of VW Dieselgate" engadget.com/amp/2018/04/04…
Well, worth mentioning that the YT mass shooter was NOT a muslim, and that somehow news misreported that a victim was her boyfriend. My question is ‘why are people even allowed to own handguns?’ But hey... "What We Know About YouTube Shooter Nasim Aghdam" gizmodo.com/what-we-know-a…
